Only 45 minutes drive from Inverness, capital of the Highlands, The Aultguish Inn is an ideal base for outdoor enthusiasts with easy access to the surrounding mountains of Ross-shire and Sutherland.
The name Aultguish (Allt Giubhais in Gaelic) means the stream of the pine forest as this whole area was once covered with pine trees, although little evidence of that now exists. There are numerous opportunities for hiking and hill walking in this area. Corbetts & Munros such as Ben Wyvis and Beinn Dearg. For your day out on the hill, we can supply you with packed lunches and tea & coffee (bring your flask or hire a flask for £1).
Whether you are hiking or hillwalking alone or in a group, we provide forms which we advise you to complete so that we know where you are walking, when you are expected back and, therefore, when we should alert emergency services if necessary. Indeed, the Inn is often used by the mountain rescue services as a base when carrying out searches in the area, sometimes with helicopters landing in the grounds.
